Quality – Makes or Breaks Your Fabric

The fabric of a garment can make or break its overall look and feel, so it’s important to choose fabrics that are not only beautiful, but also durable and well-made.

There are a few things to keep in mind when shopping for quality fabrics:

1. Fiber content:
The type of fiber used in a fabric will affect its strength, durability, and appearance. Natural fibers like wool and linen are usually more expensive than synthetic fibers like polyester, but they’re also usually higher quality.

2. Weave:
The way the fibers are woven together also impacts the quality of the fabric. A tight weave will be more durable and less likely to tear or fray, while a loose weave will be more susceptible to damage.

3. Finish:
The way a fabric is finished can also affect its quality. Some fabrics are treated with chemicals that make them wrinkle-resistant or stain-resistant, while others are simply washed and left untreated. Higher quality fabrics usually have some sort of treatment that makes them easier to care for.

4. Weight:
Fabric weight is another important factor to consider when shopping for quality fabrics. Opt for  lightweight fabrics like silk and cotton.

When you want to quickly analyze the quality of a fabric, consider these things –  First, inspect the fabric closely to check for any irregularities in the weave. Second, feel the fabric to see if it is smooth and free of any lumps or bumps. Third, look at the colour of the fabric to see if it is consistent throughout. Finally, smell the fabric to see if there is any off-putting odor. If all of these things check out, then you can be confident that you have a great quality fabric.

We believe when it comes to fabrics, quality is key. At Acme Creations, we adhere to a number of quality control procedures to guarantee that every fabric we make is of the highest calibre.
